Utter to resign as ASU Tutorial Affairs Provost; Chancellor Shields to fill position briefly

Dr. Alan Utter is stepping down as provost and govt vp for tutorial affairs and analysis at Arkansas State College on the shut of the autumn 2022 semester, Chancellor Todd Shields stated.
“We thank Alan for his work right here at Arkansas State, and we want him the most effective in his future endeavors,” Shields stated.
Utter will assume his school appointment and take a sabbatical for the spring 2023 semester to arrange for returning to the classroom within the Division of Well being, Bodily Training and Sport Sciences.
“I need to take a second to thank Chancellor Shields for graciously accepting my choice,” Utter stated. “It has been each an honor and privilege to serve the college as provost during the last three-and-a-half years.”
Shields will function the performing provost for A-State whereas plans for a search committee are finalized and the potential for an interim provost are evaluated.
Utter joined A-State in April 2019 following two years as provost and vp for tutorial affairs at Texas Lady’s College in Denton, Texas. Utter beforehand was the vice provost for analysis at Appalachian State College. Whereas at Appalachian State, he was the founding director of the college workplace of pupil analysis and had a prolonged tenure as a professor within the division of well being and training.
